What are Awareness Training – It is a type of behavioral therapy used to improve social skills in
people with mental disorders or developmental disabilities. SST may be used by teachers, therapists,
or other professionals to help those with anxiety disorders, mood disorders, personality disorders
and other diagnoses. Social skills are an integral part of functioning in society. Displaying good
manners, communicating effectively with others, being considerate of the feelings of others and
expressing personal needs are all important components of solid social skills.
We are generally viewed as a very social and outgoing. Society puts great emphasis on communications
and personal relationships and its part of the reason why we have a reputation for conveying warmth
and openness with both native and non-natives alike.
What is Social Awareness – Being socially aware means that you understand how you react to different
social situations, and effectively modify your interactions with other people so that you achieve
the best results. The net result of social awareness is the ongoing development of social skills.
Social awareness gives you the ability to understand and respond to the needs of others.
Understanding other people’s feelings is central to emotional intelligence. Get it wrong and you’ll
be seen as uncaring and insensitive. Awareness of social situations means you carefully consider
what people want, and plan to communicate with them in a way that is intended to meet that need. I
don’t believe social awareness is intended to be quite as calculated as manipulation. At best being
socially aware is a natural response to people, taking their situation and needs into account as
much as possible.
